How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
COMMENTARY:
The Psalmist complains that God had long withdrawn. He earnestly prays for comfort. He assures himself of an answer of peace. God sometimes hides his face, and leaves his own children in the dark concerning their interest in him: and this they lay to heart more than any outward trouble whatever. But anxious cares are heavy burdens with which believers often load themselves more than they need. The bread of sorrows is sometimes the saint's daily bread; our Master himself was a man of sorrows. It is a common temptation, when trouble lasts long, to think that it will last always. Those who have long been without joy, begin to be without hope. We should never allow ourselves to make any complaints about what drive us to our knees. Nothing is more killing to a soul than the want of God's favour; nothing more reviving than the return of it. The sudden, delightful changes in the book of Psalms, are often very remarkable. We pass from depth of despondency to the height of religious confidence and joy. It is thus, all is gloomy dejection; but here the mind of the despondent worshipper rises above all its distressing fears, and throws itself, without reserve, on the mercy and care of its Divine Redeemer. See the power of faith, and how good it is to draw near to God, our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. If we bring our cares and griefs to the throne of Grace, and leave them there, we may go away like Hannah, and our countenances will be no more said, Our Lord's mercy is the support of the Psalmist's faith. Finding I have that to trust to, I am comforted, though I have no merit of my own. His faith in God's mercy filled his heart with joy in his salvation; for joy and peace come by believing. He has dealt bountifully with me. By faith he was as confident of salvation, as if it had been completed already. In this way believers pour out their prayers, renouncing all hopes but in the mercy of God through the Savior's blood: and sometimes suddenly, at others gradually, they will find their burdens removed, and their comforts restored; they then allow that their fears and complaints were unnecessary, and acknowledge that our Lord hath dealt bountifully with them. All Glory to God!
PRAYER:
Dear Precious Lord, and Savior Christ Jesus our Father in Heaven, as we begin this new week, accept our Thanks for every gift that you have given us for our body, mind, and soul, and especially for giving us saving Faith and the promise of eternal life in Heaven. We know that we are not always Thankful and have not always made the best use of Your Blessings. But we are sorry for our sins and ask Your forgiveness for Jesus sake. Bless the whole Christian Curch and all its members, and even our unsaved family members, who stand in need of Your Mercy and Grace. Thank You Lord that You have guided those who preach and teach, and open the hearts of those who heard. Thank You Lord that not one Word spoke in Your behalf came back void. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Holy Jesus, You bore the crushing weight of our sins as You hung from Your cross, and even suffered the terrors of hell for us. By Your bruised body, Your precious blood, and Your bitter agony, You had Mercy on us, a sinner. we praise You, Bless You, and adore You, because by Your holy cross You redeemed the world. Through this redemption, we are Your children. As we live as Your's, be our guide and comforter. Speak through our lips. Work through our hands. Make us a Blessing to others. Thank You Lord, Thank You Christ Jesus. Lord Thank You that through You Holy Word You have told us; For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay, for we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end, it will be said in that day, 'Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation, rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. Cease from anger and forsake wrath; do not fret; it leads only to evildoing. For evildoers will be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land, i waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear and will trust in the LORD, therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; how blessed are all those who long for Him, indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed; those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed. Make me know Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You I wait all the day, wait for the LORD; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the LORD, therefore, return to your God, observe kindness and justice, and wait for your God continually. Thank You Lord, O' Bless That wonderful name of Christ Jesus. Thank You, Lord. Lord Thank You for the Blessing that you have already supplied Your children today. Thank You Lord, that You always know what we each stand in need of. Thank You Christ Jesus, who is Lord of our lives.
Now unto Christ Jesus, who has proven Himself, to be more then able to keep us, until the day of His coming, Today as everyday, for the rest of our lives we give Thanks unto You, most Beloved Christ Jesus, and every day for the rest of our lives. i in the Holy and Blessed, name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life, i proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in the most Precious name of Christ Jesus, and i commend each and everyone of Your children's bodies and souls into Your loving, mighty hands, our Beloved Lord Christ Jesus.
