VERSE:
Psalm 14 (King James Version)
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD. There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous. Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge. Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
COMMENTARY:
A description of the depravity of human nature, and the deplorable corruption of a great part of mankind. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. The sinner here described is an atheist, one that saith there is no Judge or Governor of the world, no Providence ruling over the affairs of men. He says this in his heart. He cannot satisfy himself that there is none, but wishes there were none, and pleases himself that it is possible there may be none; he is willing to think there is none. This sinner is a fool; he is simple and unwise, and this is evidence of it: he is wicked and profane. The Word of God is a discerner of these thoughts. No man will say, There is no God, till he is so hardened in sin, that it is become his interest that there should be none to call him to an account. The disease of sin has infected the whole race of mankind. They are all gone aside, there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Whatever good is in any of the children of men, or is done by them, it is not of themselves, it is God's work in them. They are gone aside from the right way of their duty, the way that leads to happiness, and are turned into the paths of the destroyer. Let us lament the corruption of our nature, and see what need we have of the Grace of God: let us not marvel that we are told we must be Born Again. And we must not rest in any thing short of a union with Christ Jesus, and a new creation to Holiness by His Spirit. The psalmist endeavours to convince sinners of the evil and danger of their way, while they think themselves very wise, and good, and safe. Their wickedness is described. Those that care not for God's people, for God's poor, care not for God Himself. People run into all manner of wickedness, because they do not call upon God for His Grace. What good can be expected from those that live without Prayer? But those that will not fear God, may be made to fear at the shaking of a leaf. All our knowledge of the depravity of human nature should endear to us salvation out of Zion. But in Heaven alone shall the whole company of the Redeemed rejoice fully, and for evermore. The world is bad; oh that the Messiah would come and change its character! There is universal corruption; oh for the times of reformation! The triumphs of Zion's King will be the joys of Zion's children. The second coming of Christ Jesus, finally to do away the dominion of sin and satan, will be the completing of this Salvation, which is the hope, and will be the joy of every Israelite indeed. With this assurance we should comfort ourselves and one another.
PRAYER:
Precious and most Holy Christ Jesus, the maker of all good and perfect gifts, we come into Your Holy Presence this morning. Thanking You Lord that once again You have woken us up to see another day. Thank You Lord, Thank You.
Lord we know that Your love for us is everlasting, and that while we were all yet sinners, You died for us. Thank You Lord, Thank You, Father, for the love that passes all understanding that You show us daily, Thank You that we know that Greater is He that is in us, then he that is in this world, that You have told us through Your Holy Word; God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life, Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account. Thank You Lord, Christ Jesus, Thank You, Bless that wonderful name of Christ Jesus, the only name by which any man can be saved. Thank You Lord, All Glory To God, our Father in Heaven. We live, Dear Father, with deep appreciation for all Your gifts, ours is the shame, Your's the praise. Only in the sureness of Your forgiving love do we rest securely. Give us renewed vigor to Bless Your name, Praise You and live in joy, sharing Your love with everyone we meet. Thank You Lord, Thank You. we ask that You look down on our love ones, those who have yet to call on You as Lord, and open their eyes, their ears, so that they might see and hear Your Word, and know that You are the one true God, and that You are the King of Kings, and that no man goes unto the Father, but through You. Thank You Lord, Thank You. we ask that You Bless the sick and the unemployed, the married and unmarried, let them know that You will never leave or forsake them, and that Your eyes are on the sparrow, so they can be sure that You watches over them. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Lord we have no fear of any man because we know that; The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe, but now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel, 'Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you, But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one, The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever, Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary, The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread. Thank You Lord, Thank You. We love You Lord Christ Jesus and Give You all the Glory and Praise.
Now unto You most Holy Christ Jesus, who has proven Himself, to be more then able to keep us, until the day of Your coming, Today as everyday, for the rest of our lives we give Thanks unto You, most Beloved Christ Jesus, and every day for the rest of our lives. i in the Holy and Blessed, name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life, i proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in Your most Precious Holy name, Christ Jesus, and i commend each and everyone of Your children's bodies and souls into Your loving, mighty hands, our Beloved Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.
Amen.
