Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
Our Prayer For Today Tuesday, July 7, 2009
Verse:
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Everyone who names the naIme of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness."
2 Timothy 2:13,19
Prayer:
Most Precious Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, almighty Lord and Savior, every day we fight evil in our lives, arm and equip us with Your own weapons for those battles. Teach us to wear the shield of faith and the helmet of salvation and to use effectively the "sword of the Spirit," which is Your Holy Word. Use Your power to keep us safe until we live eternally safe with You in heaven. Lord Christ Jesus, we Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Without Your Spirit we would not be able to call on You as our Savior and Lord. Thank You for Your Holy Word through which the Holy Spirit works.
Thank You for water baptism through which the Spirit works. When We desire the Holy Spirit, make me hungry for Your word. Help me to recall also my baptism where You placed your name upon me - the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit - and made our bodies the temple of your Holy Spirit. Help us to remember that we do not earn the gift of the Holy Spirit by our Prayers, devotion or tears. Help us to remember - and rejoice - that the gift of the Holy Spirit is entirely a gift of Your grace - Your undeserved love. Help us to remember that it is not our wrestlings and Prayers that cause the Holy Spirit to dwell inside of us. Give us peace in knowing that we have everything we need in You, Dear Jesus, and we desire nothing more. Lord You already know what all of us, Your children stand in need of, and we proclaim that Your will for us has already been done. For You have taught us:
"Now behold, today I am going the way of all the earth, and you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one word of all the good words which the LORD your God spoke concerning you has failed; all have been fulfilled for you, not one of them has failed."
Joshua 23:14
