Psalm 9 (King James Version)

I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High. When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence. For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right. Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever. O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them. But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment. And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings. When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble. Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death: That I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy salvation. The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever. Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight. Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.


COMMENTARY:


David praises God for protecting his people. If we would praise God acceptably, we must praise Him in sincerity, with our whole heart. When we give Thanks for some one particular mercy, we should remember former mercies. Our joy must not be in the gift, so much as in the Giver. The triumphs of the Redeemer ought to be the triumphs of the redeemed. The almighty power of God is that which the strongest and stoutest of His enemies are no way able to stand before. We are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth, and that with him there is no unrighteousness. His people may, by faith, flee to him as their Refuge, and may depend on His power and promise for their safety, so that no real hurt shall be done to them. Those who know Him to be a God of truth and faithfulness, will rejoice in His word of promise, and rest upon that.


Those who know Him to be an everlasting Father, will trust Him with their souls as their main care, and trust in Him at all times, even to the end; and by constant care seek to approve themselves to Him in the whole course of their lives. Who is there that would not seek Him, who never hath forsaken those that seek Him?


PRAYER:


Dear Lord, Thank You for keeping us safely through the night, guarded by Your angels. Speak to our hearts as we open Your Word this morning, so that our day is guided by Your Spirit. Help us to glorify Your name through all we think and say and do today. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Lord Christ Jesus, You promised to comfort those who mourn and to satisfy those who hunger. In time of trial remind us of Your cross, where You endured the curse of our sina. When we are weak, teach us to depend on You for strength. Thank You Lord, Thank You. God of Grace, give us Grace to view our present circumstance with humble gratitude. Teach me the secret of contentment. Keep us from murmuring against Your will, give us the satisfaction that comes from being sure of having eternal life in Jesus. Thank You Lord. Lord God, We this day, declarer that we will always put all our trust in You, for we know that our strength comes from You. Lord, Thank You that You have taught us that, Our heart rejoices in Him, because we trust in His holy name, trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness, Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He will do it, he put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear and will trust in the LORD. How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, and has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood, I will not trust in my bow, nor will my sword save me As for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever, But You, O God, will bring them down to the pit of destruction; men of bloodshed and deceit will not live out half their days. But I will trust in You,When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, in God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me? Thank You Lord, Thank You.
Father, Almighty God Christ Jesus, You know all that we Your children stand in need of. You know each of us by name. Thank You that we have no wants or needs, that You our Lord can't provide for. Thank You that by Your strips we are healed. As we go forth this day, Lord keep us in Your loving hands, protect us, guide us, with Your loving kindness.


Now unto Him who is more then able to keep us, until the day of His coming, We give You Thanks this day, most Beloved Christ Jesus, as every day for the rest of our lives. Father, this day, i in the name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life, i proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in the Holy and Precious name of Christ Jesus, and i commend each and everyone of Your children's bodies and souls into Your loving, mighty hands Lord Christ Jesus.
