VERSE:
Psalm 20 (King James Version)
The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.
COMMENTARY:
This psalm is a prayer for the kings of Israel, but with relation to Christ. Even the greatest of men may be much in trouble. Neither the crown on the king's head, nor the grace in his heart, would make him free from trouble. Even the greatest of men must be much in Prayer. Let none expect benefit by the Prayers of the Church, or their friends, who are capable of Praying for themselves, yet neglect it. The king Prayed that God would protect his person, and preserve his life. That God would enable him to go on in his undertakings for the public good. We may know that God accepts our spiritual sacrifices, if by His Spirit He kindles in our souls a Holy fire of piety and love to God. Also, that the Lord would crown His enterprises with success. Our first step to victory in Spiritual warfare is to trust only in the Mercy and Grace of God; all who trust in themselves will soon be cast down. Believers triumph in God, and His revelation of Himself to them, by which they distinguish themselves from those that live without God in the world. Those who make God and His name their praise, may make God and His name their trust. This was the case when the pride and power of Jewish unbelief, and pagan idolatry, fell before the sermons and lives of the humble believers in Christ Jesus. This is the case in every conflict with our Spiritual enemies, when we engage them in the name, the Spirit, and the power of Christ Jesus; and this will be the case at the last day, when the world, with the prince of it, shall be brought down and fall; but believers, risen-from the dead, through the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, shall stand, and sing His praises in Heaven. In Christ's Salvation let us rejoice; and set up our banners in the name of the Lord Christ Jesus our God, assured that by the saving strength of His right hand we shall be conquerors over every enemy.
PRAYER:
Lord God, our Savior Christ Jesus. We come before You this morning, once again, in Prayer and Praise. Thank You Father, that You have saw fit to let us see yet another day. Thank You that You kept watch over us, and that You protected us for harm and danger. Thank You that we know that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. Thank You Beloved Savior that greater is He that is within us, then he that is in this world, Thank You That, Your Grace and Mercy shall be with us until the end of time. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Lord God, you are the Giver of every good and perfect gift. We Thank You for Grace which gives us what we do not deserve . . . and for Your Mercy which does not give us what we do deserve. For this bright day, for the love of family and friends, for the food we eat and the water we drink - all gifts from Your gracious hand. we give You our heartfelt praise. Above all we Thank you for being our Savior without whom our life would be empty and meaningless. Surrounded by countless blessings we still ask for one more - a Thankful heart, to serve You in whatever way, that is pleasing to You. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Lord You have told us that; Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Lord I am standing in the gap this morning for all of Your children, that are in need of a Word from You, I am requesting in the Mighty and Powerful name of Christ Jesus, that You stretch out Your might hand and heal the sick, the hungry, the drug addict, the man or woman who is unemployed, the families that are losing their homes, their jobs, their love ones. Lord we need You now more then anything to bring Peace to this world. Lord the powers that be in this world can't do it. We need You Lord! You have told us that; "the name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe, But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one, who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good, the Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever, the Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread?, when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet, He will not fear evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord, for you have made the Lord, my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent, in peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety, You will laugh at violence and famine, neither will you be afraid of wild beasts, then you would trust, because there is hope; and you would look around and rest securely. You would lie down and none would disturb you, and many would entreat your favor, may the beloved of the Lord dwell in security by Him, Who shields him all the day, and he dwells between His shoulders, they will no longer be a prey to the nations, and the beasts of the earth will not devour them; but they will live securely, and no one will make them afraid, but if you truly obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries, but You, O Lord, are on high forever. For, behold, Your enemies, O Lord, for, behold, Your enemies will perish; all who do iniquity will be scattered. Thank You Lord Christ Jesus, Thank You. O' Bless that wonderful name of Christ Jesus. Thank You.
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Who has by the shading of Your Blood on the Cross, and raising from the grave, has proven Himself, to be more then able to keep us, until the day of Your coming. Today and everyday, for the rest of our lives, we give Thanks unto You, most Beloved Christ Jesus. Father, i in the Holy and Blessed name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life, proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in Your most Precious Holy name, Christ Jesus, and i commend each and everyone of Your children's bodies and souls into Your loving, mighty hands, our Beloved Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.
Amen.
