Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
Our Prayer For Today, Wednesday, August 19, 2009
VERSE:
Psalm 1 (King James Version)
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
COMMENTARY:
The ungodly are the reverse of the righteous, both in character and condition. The ungodly are not so, they are led by the counsel of the wicked, in the way of sinners, to the seat of the scornful; they have no delight in the law of God; they bring forth no fruit but what is evil. The righteous are like useful, fruitful trees: the ungodly are like the chaff which the wind drives away: the dust which the owner of the floor desires to have driven away, as not being of any use.
They are of no worth in God's account, how highly soever they may value themselves. They are easily driven to and fro by every wind of temptation. The chaff may be, for a while, among the wheat, but He is coming, whose fan is in his hand, and who will thoroughly purge his floor. Those that, by their own sin and folly, make themselves as chaff, will be found so before the whirlwind and fire of Divine wrath. The doom of the ungodly is fixed, but whenever the sinner becomes sensible of this guilt and misery, he may be admitted into the company of the righteous by Christ the living way, and become in Christ a new creature. He has new desires, new pleasures, hopes, fears, sorrows, companions, and employments. His thoughts, words, and actions are changed. He enters on a new state, and bears a new character. Behold, all things are become new by Divine grace, which changes his soul into the image of the Redeemer. How different the character and end of the ungodly!
PRAYER:
Precious Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, we come before You this day in Prayer and Worship, Thanking You Lord for all that You have done, all that You are going to do, and giving You all our love and all of the Glory. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Thank You Lord, that while yet sinners You loved us so much that You died for us. Thank You Lord, that we understand and believe, that it was the Blood that you shad, on the cross, that gives us the right to come boldly before You this day as Your children, knowing that our sins have been forgiven. Thank You Lord, Thank You, O Bless that wonderful name of Christ Jesus. Thank You Lord. Dear God, heavenly Father, the fruit of the Spirit is goodness and self-control. Truly, Christians should avoid evil, and strive for goodness, and Self-control, refraining from excess, goes hand-in-hand with that goodness. Therefore, Lord, give us goodness and self-control, so that we serve you and obey your will in all we do. Keep from us the wrongs and the excesses that can spoil our Christian witness. Make us, today, self-controlled Christians. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Christ Jesus, Life-giving Spirit, You live in all believers' hearts, be active inside us! Do not let our souls forget the joy of the gospel. Remind us of the truths You taught us, so the song of Salvation sings in our souls. When we trust in Your presence, nothing will be able to spoil this day, or any day for us. Thank You Lord, Thank You. For You have taught us through Your Holy Word, that For whom the Lord love He reproves, even as a father the son in whom he delights. Behold, how happy is the man whom God reproves, so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. For He inflicts pain, and gives relief; He wounds, and His hands also heal, Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O Lord, and whom You teach out of Your law; that You may grant him relief from the days of adversity, until a pit is dug for the wicked. But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world. Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison. All Glory To You our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You Lord, Thank You. Lord You know each and everyone of us by name, You know our laying down, and getting up, so we don't have to worry about nothing, our lives are in Your hands. Lord Thank You. We give You all the love and Praise this day, and always.
Now unto Him who is more then able to keep us, We give You Thanks this day and every day for the rest of our lives, and proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in the Holy and Precious name of Christ Jesus.
Amen.
