Our Prayer For Week-End: Friday October 23, 2009
Psalm 48 (King James Version)
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. God is known in her palaces for a refuge. For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together. They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away. Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail. Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind. As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah. We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple. According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness. Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments. Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof. Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following. For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
COMMENTARY:
Jerusalem is the city of our God: none on earth render Him due honor except the citizens of the spiritual Jerusalem. Happy the kingdom, the city, the family, the heart, in which God, our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus is great, in which He is all. There God is known. The clearer discoveries are made to us of the Lord and His greatness, the more it is expected that we should abound in His praises. The earth is, by sin, covered with deformity, therefore justly might that spot of ground, which was beautified with holiness, be called the joy of the whole earth; that which the whole earth has reason to rejoice in, that God would thus in very deed dwell with man upon the earth. The kings of the earth were afraid of it. Nothing in nature can more fitly represent the overthrow of heathenism by the Spirit of the gospel, than the wreck of a fleet in a storm. Both are by the mighty power of the Lord. We have here the improvement which the people of God are to make of his glorious and gracious appearances for them. Let our faith in the word of God be hereby confirmed. Let our hope of the stability of the church be encouraged. Let our minds be filled with good thoughts of God. All the streams of mercy that flow down to us, must be traced to the fountain of His loving-kindness. Let us give to God, our Lord and Savior, the glory of the great things He has done for us. Let all the members of the church take comfort from what the Lord does for His Church. Let us observe the beauty, strength, and safety of the Church. Consider its strength; see it founded on Christ the Rock, fortified by the Divine power, guarded by Him who neither slumbers nor sleeps. See what precious ordinances are its palaces, what precious promises are its bulwarks, that you may be encouraged to join yourselves to it: and tell this to others. This God, who has now done such great things for us, is unchangeable in His love to us, and His care for us. If He is our God, He will lead and keep us even to the last. He will so guide us, as to set us above the reach of death, so that it shall not do us any real hurt. He will lead us to a life in which there shall be no more death.
PRAYER:
Most Holy God, our Heavenly Father. we come before You this today in Prayer, and praising Your Holy name. Lord Christ Jesus, we are so grateful that You have kept us though out the night, allowed us to see another day, in which we all seek to do Your Holy Will. Thank You Lord and Savior, Thank You. we glorify Your name and praise You for who You are and what You have done. You alone are Holy and worthy of praise. we honor You, Blessed Savior as the one and only true and living God with all our hearts, souls, minds and strength. Holy Father, we Pray that You ignite our hearts by the power of Your Holy Spirit so that we may live with passion for You this day. Help us to pursue Your Holy excellence and spurn mediocrity. Renew us and renew Your Church so that we may live vibrant lives before the watching world. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. Dear God, as we look at our lives, we know that our record is spoiled again by sin. Thank You, that You have forgiven us our failings! And we ask You to also forgive the sins we have forgotten or failed to recognize. Forgive us for Your sake, our Lord Christ Jesus, our crucified and risen Savior. O' Bless that wonderful name of Christ Jesus, the only name by which any man can be Saved. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Father we ask You to Bless all of Your children, the sick, the weary, the man and woman who are worried about employment, the ones who are concerned about their homes and most of all the youth. Lord, we are asking that You just touch their minds and hearts with Your healing power, give them the patience to wait on You, and the desire to act in obedience to Your Word, once You have shown them the way in which You would have them go, to bring a satisfactory conclusion to their situation, and to not be concerned of what others may think or say, but to keep their minds on You the author and finisher of their Faith. For You have told us; For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed, Then I shall not be ashamed when I look upon all Your commandments, Hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us, For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day, Just as it is written, "BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE, AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED, Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth, If anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name, May my heart be blameless in Your statutes, so that I will not be ashamed. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. Thank You. Lord God, Heavenly Father, You have promised that Your Church will endure to the end. satan may rage against Her and the world may scoff at Her weakness but You will not fail to keep Her firm unto the end. In every place we see the signs of the end that You told us to look for: famines and earthquakes take lives, wickedness increases and the love of many grows cold. In these last days, O Lord, preserve Your Church. Keep your promise. For Your peoples' sake do not let the gospel light go out. For the sake of all who live in darkness do not let the voice of truth fall silent. Lord, preserve also Your Church among us. May we always treasure Your Word and gladly hear and learn it. May we never give in to fear by keeping silent about Jesus. May our love for each other and for the lost never grow cold. Keep us burning brightly with deeds of kindness and devotion to You alone. Heavenly Father, people throughout the world will go to Church this Sunday, to hear Your Holy Word, we Thank You that You have Blessed the pastors who preach Your Truth, that You will use their message to strengthen all who hear them bring Your Word, faith. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. Lord, help us to be ready at all times to make bold confession of our faith in You our Savior. Guide all Christians so they love truth and take a stand in society, letting others know that there is a standard, set by you, that you command us to keep. Keep us faithful. Let none who You have sent be afraid of anyone or anything Lord, for You have told us; "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe, But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel, 'Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you, But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one, Who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good?, The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever, The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Refresh our bodies and renew our spirits, so we will be ready to meet the challenges and to perform the duties that You have set before us, and that we know that You have placed a hedge of protection around all of our families and concerns, and that where ever You send us, Your Holy Spirit, also goes before us, making every crooked road stright, and that not one Word spoken in Your behalf, or one note sang, will come back void, and that You will never leave or forsake us. Thank You Heavenly Father, our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You.
Now unto You, who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to You be the power and glory, to all generations forever and ever. Who has by the shading of Your Blood on the Cross, and raising from the grave, has proven Yourself, to be more then able to keep us, until the day of Your coming. Today and everyday, for the rest of our lives, we give Thanks unto You, most Beloved Christ Jesus. we demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Father, i in the Holy and Blessed name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life, proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in Your most Precious Holy name, and i commend each and everyone of Your children's body and souls into Your loving, mighty hands, our Beloved Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, Who is Lord Of Our Lives. Thank You Beloved Savior, Thank You.
