Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
World Wide Disasters Are Befalling Mankind
Wars and rumors of wars, famine and locusts in the land, natural disasters from tsunamis, earthquakes, levee-shattering hurricanes that hit New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, flooding, ice-cap melting, tornadoes striking and shattering homes and buildings, record snow falls and snow drifts, rock slides, changes in the natural food chain -- beginning with the erosion of pollination by the disruption of the bee life patterns, pending extinctions in the animal kingdom -- we could go on and on. Surely this is enough to shatter everyone's confidence and cast shadows of impending doom upon the populace. Truly reminiscent of Amagedon and Last Judgement descriptors, found in the pages of Revelation. Surely it is enough to get the attention of the every-day man and woman. Strangely enough some misguided statements from the ministerial elite such as Dr. Pat Robinson of CBN noteriety crediting the wrath of God upon Haiti due to its nonreligious practices appears to reek of disowned prejudice, while at the same time attaching nary a reference of any type as the cause of all the equal disasters that followed suit in South America, Asia, and all across the United States in one way or another. This seems inconsistent in my way of thinking. Yet there are many different messages that the true Christian might read into these troublesome times.
It might goad us to take better stock of our lives and our faith walk. It might strike fear in our hearts that the end-times are approaching. It might cause us to believe that mankind has failed in its interpretation of the society in which we live. We see our world literally crumbling around us. What is our true response? Is it simply another opportunity for mankind to change the world as we know it? Is it possible for man to help bring God's Kingdom here on earth?
So what thoughts have you developed as a result of these unsettling events?
May the Holy Spirit guide us all in our thinking, questioning, pondering, understanding and enlightenment. May God bless you as you respond.
